We want to thank all our customers for another successful year at South Mountain Plantation. It was good to see new faces, meet new friends and visit with our old friends during their annual visit. We are already planning our Spring planting of seedlings and thinking about new items for the Christmas shop. Thanks for doing business with us! Merry Christmas and have a wonderful new year!

Our 2012 Newsletter is Available!
Each year we write a short summary of happenings from the past year, both for our family and for the farm. We have gotten to know and befriend many of you over these many years and have found that with time being so short, this is a fine way to keep everyone up to date on the goings on at South Mountain Plantation. Thanks again for your loyal patronage. We hope to see you again soon.
The production company for the film "Elf-Man" came to South Mountain Plantation to select a Christmas tree for use in the movie! They found us via our website. Elf-Man is being filmed in in Frederick County, Maryland, a few miles south of our farm. We'll post more info as it becomes available. Here is another Facebook page for Elf-Man.

Bring the family and enjoy the family tradition of choosing the perfect Christmas tree while enjoying the panoramic views of four states. Wander through the acres of trees to find the tree just right for you. South Mountain Plantation is the place to enjoy family time and continue a tradition that will last generations. Once the perfect tree is found enjoy the experience of cutting it down with a saw provided at the farm. You don’t have to be Paul Bunyan to yell “timber!” Bring the tree back to the shop on one of the wagons provided or have the family help carry it back. The Farm provides free baling of the Christmas tree and twine to tie the tree on your vehicle. Always remember to tie the tree on the vehicle “butt” first.
In a rush, or unable to make the hike in the field to find a tree? A tree lot is available with a great selection of pre-cut trees in both size and variety. Live trees are also available to be planted in your yard after Christmas. Live trees keep the memories of Christmas alive all year long.
The Farm experience doesn’t end with getting a tree. There is a Christmas shop that provides greens and wreaths and many unique ornaments to add to the decorating experience. Pin Tree Stands are also available, making setting up the tree a fast and easy experience. Trees are drilled free for those customers with a stand.
South Mountain Plantation prides itself on being ecologically friendly. Each acre of trees removes up to 26,000 pounds of pollutants from the air each year and provides the daily oxygen requirements for 18 people.
